(670 The Score) The Blackhawks pounced quickly on a couple of their own players as free agency officially opened late Friday morning.

Chicago and forward Dominik Kubalik agreed to a two-year contract extension, while goalie Malcolm Subban was brought back on a two-year deal. Kubalik’s deal will run through the 2021-’22 season and have a $3.7-million cap hit. Subban’s contract will run through the 2021-’22 season as well and carries an $850,000 cap hit.

Kubalik, 25, had a standout rookie season, tallying 46 points (30 goals, 16 assists) in 68 games and being named a Calder Trophy finalist. He became the fifth rookie in franchise history to reach the 30-goal mark. He was also second on the team in goals.

Subban, 26, appeared in one game for the Blackhawks last season after being acquired in a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights. In all, he posted a 3.17 goals against average and an .890 save percentage in 21 games. Subban will have a chance to compete for the starting goalie job after the Blackhawks announced Thursday that they won’t re-sign two-time Stanley Cup winner Corey Crawford in net.
