(670 The Score) Just as the Bulls have found a groove recently, they’ve been dealt adversity in the form of an injury.
Forward Torrey Craig is expected to miss at least eight weeks after he was diagnosed with an acute sprain of his right plantar fascia, the team announced Tuesday evening after he had an MRI at Rush Hospital earlier in the day. Craig will be immobilized for about four weeks, after which his rehab process is expected to take about four to six weeks, the team said.
Craig suffered the injury in the second quarter of Chicago’s 118-116 loss at Miami on Saturday. The eight-week mark for Craig's injury timeline would arrive just before the All-Star break in mid-February, meaning he's likely to return after that break. The Bulls have 27 games left before the All-Star break.
Craig is averaging 6.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21.2 minutes across 27 games this season, seven of which he has started. He’s also shooting 38.2% on 3-pointers. Craig had been playing his best ball of the season recently, as he scored 16 points in 14 minutes before being injured Saturday and was shooting 53.6% on 3-pointers in his past seven games.
The Bulls (11-17) are 6-3 in their past nine games after an ugly 5-14 start. They’ll host the Lakers on Wednesday at the United Center.
