(670 The Score) The Cubs have designated struggling reliever Brandon Workman for assignment, they announced Thursday.
Workman had a 6.75 ERA and 2.38 WHIP in 10 appearances for the Cubs this season. That included allowing three runs in 2/3 innings in his team’s loss to the Braves on Tuesday. The Cubs had added Workman on a one-year deal in February after he struggled for the Phillies in 2020.
In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled lefty reliever Justin Steele from its alternate training site. He has thrown 3 1/3 scoreless innings across three appearances for the Cubs.
