Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga named an All-Star in his rookie MLB season

(670 The Score) Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga has been named an All-Star.

The honor for the 30-year-old Imanaga comes in his rookie MLB season after he spent years pitching in his native Japan. Imanaga is 7-2 with a 3.16 ERA (eighth in National League) and 1.11 WHIP in 16 starts across 91 innings. He has struck out 92 batters and walked just 15.

Imanaga had a sensational start to the season, as he didn’t allow an earned run until his fourth start of the year.

Imanaga will be the lone Cubs representative in the All-Star Game, which will be held July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
