Cubs are on brink of elimination after a 7-3 loss to Brewers in Game 2 of NLDS

(670 The Score) The Cubs are on the brink of elimination.

The Brewers earned a 7-3 win over the Cubs on Monday night in Milwaukee in Game 2 of the National League Division Series, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Milwaukee got home runs from first baseman Andrew Vaughn, catcher William Contreras and left fielder Jackson Chourio in their victory.

Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki blasted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning off Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby. It followed a familiar script from Game 1 on Saturday, when Cubs first baseman Michael Busch led off with a home run before the Brewers soon took control of the game. After the Cubs' big first inning Monday, their bats were silent the rest of the game. They managed just four hits in the game and only two after the first inning.

Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga went just 2 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, all earned, on five hits while striking out three and walking none. He was once again hurt by the home run ball, allowing two blasts, including a three-run shot to Vaughn in the bottom of the first inning. All seven of the Brewers' runs came on two-out homers.

Game 3 will be held Wednesday at Wrigley Field. First pitch is slated for 4:08 p.m. CT in Chicago.

The Cubs will likely turn to right-hander Jameson Taillon as their starter in Game 3.
