(670 The Score) The Cubs on Wednesday placed struggling right-hander Jake Arrieta on the 10-day injured list with right hamstring tightness.
The move came a day after Arrieta’s recent poor performance continued, as he went just 1 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs in his team’s 15-10 loss to the Phillies. Arrieta has a 9.67 ERA in his last eight starts. He’s 5-9 with a 6.30 ERA in 17 starts this season.
In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled right-hander Cory Abbott from Triple-A Iowa. He has a 4.32 ERA in four appearances for the Cubs this season.
