(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed infielder Jeimer Candelario on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain, the team announced Tuesday.

Candelario has been a regular in the Cubs’ lineup since they acquired him in a trade from the Nationals in late July. He has hit .237 with five homers, 16 RBIs and a .773 OPS in 36 games with the Cubs this season. He has 21 homers and an .811 OPS in 135 games in 2023.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled outfielder Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa. He appeared in one game for the Cubs earlier in September.

Entering play Tuesday, the Cubs sit in second place in the NL Central, three games behind the Brewers. They also hold the second of the three NL wild-card spots. The Cubs visit the Rockies on Tuesday, with first pitch set for 7:40 p.m. CT. Pregame coverage on 670 The Score will begin at 7:05 p.m. and you can listen here.
