(670 The Score) The Cubs on Wednesday placed second baseman Nick Madrigal on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain. The move is retroactive to Sunday.
Madrigal is hitting .222 with zero homers, two RBIs and a .513 OPS in 31 games this season.
In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled right-hander Caleb Kilian from Triple-A Iowa. He’ll start when the Cubs host the Padres on Wednesday evening. Kilian went five innings and allowed three runs, all earned, in his MLB debut on June 4, which is his only appearance of the season at the big league level.
