Cubs place reliever Ryan Tepera on 10-day injured list amid series of roster moves

(670 The Score) The Cubs placed reliever Ryan Tepera on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain amid a series of roster moves Tuesday.

Tepera has a 3.35 ERA in 37 appearances this season, but he has struggled lately, allowing a combined six earned runs in one inning of work across his last two appearances.

In other moves, the Cubs optioned right-hander Trevor Megill to Triple-A Iowa, selected the contract of left-hander Adam Morgan from Iowa and recalled right-hander Tommy Nance. They also transferred infielder Matt Duffy to the 60-day injured list to make room for Morgan. Duffy will be eligible to return the Thursday after the All-Star break, Sahadev Sharma of the Athletic reported.

Megill allowed six earned runs without recording an out in the eighth inning of the Cubs’ 14-4 loss to the Brewers on Monday. Morgan has a 4.84 ERA across parts of six MLB seasons but hasn’t pitched in the big leagues yet in 2021. Nance has a 3.20 ERA in 18 appearances for the Cubs in 2021.
