Cubs recall right-hander Hayden Wesneski from Triple-A Iowa

(670 The Score) The Cubs on Tuesday recalled right-hander Hayden Wesneski from Triple-A Iowa and optioned reliever Michael Rucker to Triple-A.

Wesneski will rejoin the Cubs after being demoted to Triple-A on May 15 following struggles. Wesneski has posted a 5.03 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 39 1/3 innings across eight starts for the Cubs this season. In a pair of outings at Triple-A recently, he threw nine innings and allowed just one earned run on two hits and six walks while striking out nine.

Rucker has struggled this season, posting a 5.48 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 20 appearances for the Cubs.

The Cubs host the Rays on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field in the second contest of their three-game series. Pregame coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. on 670 The Score, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
