(670 The Score) Cubs left fielder Ian Happ is the longest tenured player on the team's roster, having broke in with the club back in 2017.
Happ is currently enjoying his fourth postseason appearance with the Cubs, but this one is unique. With the 3-1 win over the Padres on Thursday in Game 3 of the National League wild-card series, the Cubs got celebrate at Wrigley Field.
That was a first for Happ, who savored it all.
“It was special,” Happ said Friday on the Rahimi, Harris & Grote Show on 670 The Score. “We’ve wanted to play home (playoff) games at Wrigley for this fan base, and we achieved that. I’ve been lucky to play in the postseason for this organization, but I haven’t clinched anything at Wrigley.
"It was just a super special moment to be able to see live, like, that fan reaction, to see the stadium erupting, see all the W flags and then after to be able to go back out onto the field after we celebrated to see family, to see friends. To be able to do that at Wrigley, on Wrigley, just really can’t put it into words how much that means. I think the most exciting part of it is we get to keep doing it at Wrigley, and that’s awesome.”
The Cubs have advanced to the National League Division Series, where they'll face the Brewers. Game 1 is set for Saturday at 1:08 p.m. CT at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The game can be heard on 670 The Score and the Audacy app.
