(670 The Score) Infielder Jonathan Villar and the Cubs have reached an agreement on a contract, Robert Murray of FanSided reported Thursday.
Villar, 30, hit .249 with 18 homers, 42 RBIs and a .738 OPS in 142 games for the Mets in 2021. He’s a career .258 hitter with a .729 OPS across nine MLB seasons.
Villar has positional versatility. He started 86 games at third base, 23 at shortstop and eight at second base for the Mets last season. He has been a middle infielder for most of his career.
