(670 The Score) Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani is once again the top story in the sport of Major League Baseball as he continues to thrive at the plate and on the mound.

Ohtani is hitting .306 this seaosn with an MLB-leading 35 home runs and 75 RBIs, this as he also has gone 7-5 with a 3.50 ERA over 18 starts this season. The American League MVP in 2021 and a three-time All-Star player, Ohtani has shined as the brightest star in baseball and earned the respect of his peers in the game.

Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Tuesday what he appreciates about Ohtani’s greatness.

“Just the workload of it is incredible,” Hoerner said. “And the amount of information that he’s taking in, I imagine, for the pitchers he’s facing, the hitters he’s facing, and the amount he’s doing every day to have upkeep of both of those skillsets just to be able to do it at an average level in the major leagues would be just so much time. Like, it’s just a lot to do physically and mentally every single day. Even if you’re having success, it’s still a ton.

"It speaks to him as a person to be able to handle that. That’s just really impressive. To have so much attention on him and do it and handle it with class like he does, I think it’s just definitely has guys’ respect that way. Then the production and the extremes of what he’s doing, it’s insane. The body of work is so massive, it’s impressive.”

The 29-year-old Ohtani is also being discussed around baseball as a player potentially being traded prior to MLB’s Aug. 1 trade deadline. He is set to become a free agent after this season.

The Cubs host the Nationals on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.
