(670 The Score) The Cubs have added infielder Eric Sogard on a minor league deal, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reported Wednesday morning.
Sogard, 34, hit .209 with one homer, 10 RBIs and a .560 OPS in 43 games with the Brewers in 2020. Sogard will compete for a job in spring training, with his potential role being that of a left-handed bat to use at second base or perhaps elsewhere in the infield. Sogard made 22 starts at third base for Milwaukee in 2020 but has more experience at second base in his MLB career.
Sogard has a strong 2019 season, hitting .290 with an .810 OPS in 110 games split between the Blue Jays and Rays. For his career, he has hit .246 with a .655 OPS.
