(670 The Score) Cubs reliever Codi Heuer underwent Tommy John surgery Monday, according to Meghan Montemurro the Chicago Tribune.

Heuer, 25, joined the Cubs last July as part of the trade that sent reliever Craig Kimbrel to the White Sox. Heuer had a 3.14 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 25 appearances for the Cubs last season. He has a 3.56 ERA in two MLB seasons.

“Horses don’t stop, they keep going,” Heuer posted on his Instagram account along with a picture of his arm in a brace. “Can’t wait to be back with the best fans in baseball again.”

Prior to his surgery, Heuer was expected to be a key member of the Cubs bullpen in the 2022 season.
