The Cubs are signing first baseman Dominic Smith and outfielder David Peralta to minor-league deals, according to reports.
Smith, 28, hit .254 with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs over 153 games with the Nationals last season. He's a career .248 hitter who had played first base, outfielder and designated hitter over seven major-league seasons.
Peralta, 36, hit .259 with seven home runs and 55 RBIs over 133 games last season with the Dodgers. A 10-year major-league veteran, Peralta is a career .279 hitter who has played all three outfield positions.
The Cubs have not made these signings official.
