Reports: Right-hander Colin Rea, Cubs reach an agreement on a deal

(670 The Score) The Cubs have added potential depth for their starting rotation.

Right-hander Colin Rea has agreed to a deal with the Cubs, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reported Friday afternoon. It’s a one-year deal that also includes a club option for 2026, according to reports.

Rea, 34, posted a 4.29 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 32 appearances, including 27 starts, for the Brewers in 2024. Rea also pitched for Milwaukee in 2021 and 2023, when current Cubs manager Craig Counsell was managing the Brewers.
Rea played in Japan in 2022.

Rea has a 4.57 ERA in six MLB seasons. He pitched for the Cubs in 2020, posting a 5.79 ERA in nine appearances.
