The Cubs acquired Candelario on Monday in a deal with the Nationals, sending a pair of prospects to Washington.

Candelario, 29 is hitting .258 with 16 home runs and 53 RBIs over 99 games this season. He came up with the Cubs and played 16 games with the team from 2016-'17 before being traded to the Tigers in 2017. The Cubs acquired left-hander Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila in the trade that sent Candelario to Detroit.

Candelario is hitting sixth and playing first base for the Cubs on Tuesday night as they host the Reds at Wrigley Field.
