(670 The Score) It didn’t take long for Giants right-hander Anthony DeSclafani to get heated against the White Sox on Monday afternoon.
After White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn was retired on a chopper back to the mound for the second out of the bottom of the second inning, DeSclafani started chirping at him as Vaughn headed back to the dugout. The White Sox's bench nearly emptied amid the feud.
Vaughn grounded out on a 3-0 pitch, which White Sox broadcasters Jason Benetti and Steve Stone as well as others speculated had to be the reason that DeSclafani was mad, but there appeared to be more to the story. After the game, DeSclafani explained that he made comments toward Vaughn because Vaughn had first complained about DeSclafani throwing a slider on a 3-0 count.
"He just didn't say a nice word to me," DeSclafani told NBC Sports Bay Area.
The Giants went on to 12-3 over the White Sox on the strength of seven homers.
