(670 The Score) The White Sox have added to their middle infield mix.

Shortstop Paul DeJong has agreed to a deal to join the White Sox, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported Tuesday afternoon. The deal is pending a physical.

DeJong, 30, is coming off a rough 2023 season in which he hit .207 with 14 homers, 38 RBIs and a .612 OPS in 112 games split between the Cardinals, Blue Jays and Giants. DeJong has hit .229 with a .716 OPS in his seven-year MLB career. He was an All-Star in 2019, but his play has declined since then. He hit .157 with a .530 OPS in 77 games in 2022.

DeJong gives the White Sox an option at shortstop after Tim Anderson hit free agency when the team declined the option on his contract. Nicky Lopez, whom the White Sox acquired from the Braves in a trade last week, is another option in the middle infield.
