(670 The Score) Veteran infielder Jake Lamb and the White Sox have agreed to a deal, Robert Murray of FanSided reported Monday. His addition is pending a physical.

Lamb, 30, hit .193 with three homers, 10 RBIs and a .635 OPS in 31 games split between the Diamondbacks and Athletics in the shortened 2020 season. He hit .193 with a .676 OPS in 78 games with the Diamondbacks in 2019.

Lamb recently spent time with the Braves in spring training before being released. He was an All-Star in 2017 and has a career .764 OPS.

Lamb has primarily played third base in his seven-year MLB career, but he also has experience at first base. His addition comes after White Sox left fielder Eloy Jimenez suffered a serious pectoral injury last week that will sideline him for five to six months. To help fill Jimenez’s void, the White Sox plan to use top prospect Andrew Vaughn in left field. Vaughn was previously expected to fill the designated hitter’s role and be the team’s backup first baseman. So if Lamb proves himself and makes the big league roster, he could get time at DH in addition to being a backup infielder.
