(670 The Score) The White Sox have acquired right-hander Lance Lynn in a trade with the Rangers, they announced Tuesday afternoon. Chicago sent right-hander Dane Dunning and pitching prospect Avery Weems back to Texas in the deal.

Lynn, 33, was 6-3 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 13 starts for the Rangers last season. He also posted a 9.54 strikeouts-per-nine-innings mark. Lynn has one season remaining on a three-year, $30-million deal that he signed with the Rangers prior to the 2019 season.

“Lance is one of the most proven and dependable starting pitchers in baseball,” White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement. “He provides us with another power arm and gives us three proven starters at the top of our rotation, while at the same time deepening our rotation and allowing some of our younger pitchers additional time to develop.”

Dunning, 25, was 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over seven starts last season. He made his MLB debut in August, then emerged as a regular starter in the White Sox rotation.

Dunning joined the White Sox in December 2016 as one of the key returns in a blockbuster trade with the Nationals that also sent right-hander Lucas Giolito and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez to the White Sox in exchange for outfielder Adam Eaton.

Weems, 23, had a 2.09 ERA across two levels of rookie ball in 2019 before the pandemic wiped out the minor league season in 2020. The White Sox selected him in the sixth round of the amateur draft in 2019.

The White Sox haven't yet officially announced the acquisition of Lynn.
