White Sox acquire LHP Jake Diekman from Red Sox

(670 The Score) The White Sox on Monday evening acquired left-hander Jake Diekman from the Red Sox in exchange for catcher Reese McGuire.

Diekman, 35, is 5-1 with a 4.23 ERA over 44 appearances and 38 1/3 innings of work this season. He has held left-handed hitters to a .188 batting average and .566 OPS in 2022.

McGuire, 27, is hitting .225 over 166 plate appearances this season. He had become the third catcher for the White Sox after Yasmani Grandal was activated from the injured list in July.

The White Sox host the Royals on Monday evening to begin a three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field.
