White Sox activate Tim Anderson, Lucas Giolito while placing Andrew Vaughn on injured list in flurry of roster moves

(670 The Score) The White Sox have activated shortstop Tim Anderson and right-hander Lucas Giolito from the injured list, they announced Tuesday morning amid a flurry of roster moves.

In other moves, Chicago placed outfielder Andrew Vaughn on the 10-day injured list with lower back inflammation (retroactive to Friday), recalled catcher Zack Collins from Triple-A Charlotte, optioned catcher Seby Zavala to Triple-A and optioned infielder Danny Mendick to Triple-A.

Anderson hasn’t played since Aug. 28 due to a left hamstring strain. He’s hitting .302 with 14 homers, 53 RBIs and a .788 OPS in 108 games.

Giolito hasn’t pitched since Aug. 31 due to a left hamstring strain. He’s set to start when the White Sox host the Angels on Tuesday evening. He has a 3.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 27 starts.

Vaughn is hitting .240 with 15 homers, 45 RBIs and a .723 OPS in 120 games. He’s struggling lately, going 1-of-25 in his past six games.

Collins is hitting .202 with four homers, 24 RBIs and a .655 OPS in 72 games.

Zavala is hitting .183 with five homers, 15 RBIs and a .616 OPS in 37 games.

Mendick is hitting .220 with two homers, 20 RBIs and a .589 OPS in 71 games.
