(670 The Score) The White Sox expect right-hander Lance Lynn and outfielder Eloy Jimenez to begin rehab assignments within the next week, general manager Rick Hahn said Tuesday.
Lynn hasn’t pitched yet this regular season after undergoing surgery in early April to repair a tear in a tendon by his right knee. The White Sox hope to get Lynn back sometime in early June, Hahn previously said. Lynn threw a couple rounds of batting practice Tuesday, and he could make a rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte as soon as this weekend, Hahn added.
Lynn, 35, is coming off a terrific season in which he earned All-Star honors and finished third in the American League Cy Young race. He went 11-6 with a 2.69 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 157 innings across 28 starts.
Jimenez underwent surgery in late April to repair a torn hamstring tendon behind his right knee. At the time of the procedure, the White Sox expected him to miss six to eight weeks.
Jimenez, 25, is hitting .222 with one homer, seven RBIs and a .590 OPS in 11 games this season. When healthy, he has been productive, averaging 37 homers per 162 games in his injury-plagued MLB career.
