(670 The Score) The White Sox placed infielder Romy Gonzalez on the 10-day injured list and placed right-hander Lance Lynn on the bereavement list amid a series of four roster moves Monday.
Gonzalez has right shoulder inflammation, and his placement on the injured list is retroactive to Sunday. He’s hitting .194 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 44 games this season.
Lynn is coming off his best performance of a rough season, striking out a franchise record-tying 16 batters in Chicago’s 5-1 loss at Seattle on Sunday. He’s 4-8 with a 6.51 ERA in 15 starts. Lynn must remain on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and not more than seven.
In other moves, the White Sox recalled right-hander Nick Padilla from Triple-A Charlotte and recalled infielder Jose Rodriguez from Double-A Birmingham.
Padilla, 26, has posted a 5.48 ERA in 21 appearances, including 10 starts, at Triple-A this season. He allowed two runs in two innings in an appearance for the White Sox earlier this season.
Rodriguez, 22, was hitting .238 with nine homers and 25 RBIs in 44 games at Double-A. He was rated by MLB.com as the No. 6 prospect in the White Sox’s organization entering this season. Rodriguez has no MLB experience.
The White Sox open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Monday evening at Guaranteed Rate Field.
