(670 The Score) White Sox outfielder Adam Engel is expected to miss two to four weeks after being diagnosed with a right hamstring strain.

Engel suffered the injury during the White Sox's spring training game Saturday in Arizona as he charged a flyball. He felt the hamstring pain before making the catch, then proceeded to throw the baseball home before falling to the ground in clear pain. The timeline for Engel's recovery means he'll open the regular season on the injured list.

"It's definitely getting better, I think even after the second day," Engel said Monday. "Our staff is really good here. They got a really good plan. I'm getting some good treatment. I'm pretty optimistic about a quick recovery. The last couple days have definitely supported that. I got to keep going day after day and get back out there as quick as possible."

Engel, 29, was projected to be the White Sox's fourth outfielder and a key player off the bench. He hit .295 in 93 plate appearances and 36 games in the 60-game regular season in 2020.

The White Sox open the regular season at the Los Angeles Angels on April 1.
