(670 The Score) The White Sox on Sunday placed lefty reliever Aaron Bummer on the 15-day injured list and designated outfielder/designated hitter Yermin Mercedes for assignment amid a series of roster moves.

In other moves, Chicago optioned right-hander Davis Martin to Triple-A Charlotte, recalled left-hander Tanner Banks from Charlotte and selected the contract of catcher Seby Zavala.
Bummer is suffering from a left lat strain, and his placement on the injured list was retroactive to Thursday. He has a 3.06 ERA in 20 appearances this season.
Mercedes was hitting .230 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 25 games at Triple-A.
Martin has a 4.11 ERA in three games for the White Sox. He threw five innings of two-run ball to help Chicago earn a win against Texas on Friday. Banks has a 4.57 ERA in 14 appearances for Chicago this season.
Zavala is hitting .282 with eight homers and 16 RBIs in 41 games at Triple-A Charlotte. He appeared in 37 games for the White Sox in 2021. His addition comes a day after White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal exited early with an injury in the team’s loss to the Rangers.
The White Sox’s 40-man roster now sits at 40 players.
