White Sox place OF Adam Engel on 10-day injured list amid series of roster moves

(670 The Score) The White Sox have placed outfielder Adam Engel on the 10-day injured list amid a series of roster moves, they announced Monday.

Engel is suffering from left shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to Friday. Previously, a hamstring injury kept him out for the first two-plus months of the season.

Engel is hitting .248 with seven homers, 18 RBIs and an .844 OPS in 33 games while establishing himself as a key player for the White Sox this season.

In other moves, the White Sox selected the contract of right-hander Mike Wright from Triple-A Charlotte, recalled right-hander Ryan Burr from Charlotte, optioned right-hander Matt Foster to Charlotte and designated right-hander Zack Burdi for assignment. After the transactions, their 40-man roster is full.

Wright, 31, has posted a 3.40 ERA in 16 starts at Triple-A this season. He has a 6.00 ERA in 110 appearances across five MLB seasons.

Burr has a 3.86 ERA in 12 appearances at Triple-A in 2021. He had a 2.95 ERA in 19 appearances for the White Sox earlier this season. Foster has a 5.67 ERA in 31 appearances for the White Sox in 2021.

Burdi had a 7.20 ERA in 23 appearances at Triple-A this season. He had a 6.00 ERA in six appearances for the White Sox this year.
