(670 The Score) The White Sox on Thursday placed outfielder Andrew Vaughn on the 10-day injured list with a bruised right hand. Infielder Danny Mendick was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte.
Vaughn was hit by a pitch on his right hand during a game last Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field. X-rays were negative, but the soreness has since lingered. His injured list stint is retroactive to Monday.
The 24-year-old Vaughn is hitting .283/.367/.566 with four home runs and 12 RBIs over 16 games this season.
Mendick, 28, is hitting .250 with one home run and three RBIs in 10 games this season.
The White Sox take on the Red Sox in a three-game series beginning Friday at Fenway Park in Boston.
