(670 The Score) The White Sox have placed designated hitter/outfielder Eloy Jimenez on the 10-day injured list with a left adductor strain, they announced Friday.

The move is retroactive to Tuesday. Jimenez suffered the leg injury while running out a groundball in the White Sox’s loss to the Tigers on Sunday and hasn’t played in the days since. The White Sox had hoped that Jimenez could return to action without a trip to the injured list, but that wasn’t the case. Jimenez is 2-for-11 in three games this season.

In corresponding moves, the White Sox selected outfielder Robbie Grossman’s contract from Triple-A Charlotte and designated right-hander Alex Speas for assignment.

Grossman, 34, hit .238 with 10 homers and 49 RBIs in 115 for the Rangers in 2023. He joined the White Sox on a minor league deal on March 22.

Speas, 26, had thrown 2 1/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A Charlotte this season. The White Sox had claimed him off waivers from the Rangers last October.
