(670 The Score) After closer Liam Hendriks was unavailable to pitch for the last three days, the White Sox have relented and placed him on the injured list.

Hendriks on Tuesday landed on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain. The move is retroactive to Saturday. He's expected to miss three weeks, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Sun-Times reported.

Hendriks didn’t pitch as the White Sox suffered frustrating extra-inning losses to the Rangers on Saturday and Sunday, raising questions about his health as chaos reigned amid manager Tony La Russa’s bullpen choices.

Hendriks has a 2.81 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 25 appearances this season. He has converted 16 of 19 save chances.

In other roster moves Tuesday, Chicago reinstated reliever Joe Kelly from the 15-day injured list, recalled right-hander Davis Martin from Triple-A Charlotte and optioned left-hander Bennett Sousa to Triple-A.

Kelly has a 9.53 ERA in seven appearances this season. He had been on the injured list with a strained left hamstring.

Martin has a 4.11 ERA in three appearances, including two starts. Sousa has an 8.41 ERA in 25 appearances.

The White Sox visit the Tigers on Tuesday evening.
