(670 The Score) White Sox star shortstop Tim Anderson’s suspension to open the 2022 regular season has been reduced to two games, he announced on Twitter on Thursday. Anderson was also fined $10,000, he wrote.

Anderson received a three-game suspension near the end of the 2021 regular season for making contact with umpire Tim Timmons during a scuffle between the White Sox and Tigers. Anderson appealed the suspension.

Utilityman Leury Garcia often started at shortstop when Anderson dealt with injury or had an off day in 2021, so Garcia is a leading candidate to fill in for him in the White Sox’s first two games of the season. Chicago’s opener is at Detroit on April 8.

Anderson, 28, hit .309 with 17 homers, 61 RBIs and an .806 OPS in 123 games last season.
