(670 The Score) White Sox slugger Andrew Vaughn is having a strong sophomore season at the big league level.

Vaughn is hitting .298 with six homers, 23 RBIs and an .839 OPS in 36 games while establishing himself as one of the White Sox’s most consistent hitters. The key to his success? Part of it is keeping his mindset simple. Vaughn prefers to not be overwhelmed with too much information or video study.

“It’s definitely a tough game,” Vaughn said. “I have to go out there and stay simple. I don’t like to look at all the numbers, the facts. I just go out there every day and just try to take my best four or five at-bats and let the results show at the end.

“(Too much information) makes me overthink sometimes. Just because I’ve been playing this game for my whole life, everybody is going to pitch. They got to throw it over the same plate. I like to know some stuff, how hard he throws, what he’s got. But the simpler the better for me.”

Vaughn was also asked what he has learned now that he officially has a full season of game experience under his belt at the MLB level. Sunday marked his 163rd career game.

“There’s a lot of things,” Vaughn said. “The game is a grind. I mean, 162 is in a full season, and you just go battle. It’s truly a battle. You’re just trying to go out every single day and win ball games. It’s not going to happen – you can’t win them all. Every team up here has the potential to win every single night. It’s just such a fun game. It’s a challenge. You’re going to battle against another team.

“The battle, the challenge. That’s got to be the most fun part. If this game was easy, I feel like everybody would do it. I think that’s what drives a lot of us baseball players to play. Because it’s a challenge.”
