(SportsRadio 610) -- The Texans have decided to cut receiver Anthony Miller less than three months after trading a fifth-round pick to the Chicago Bears to acquire him, longtime NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported Wednesday morning.

Miller has five catches for 23 yards and a touchdown in two games for Houston this season. He caught four of those passes, including the touchdown, against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.

While Miller played an even greater percentage of the offensive snaps in a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, he caught just one of his five targets for just a three-yard gain.

The Texans' issues on offense are widespread, from starting rookie third-round quarterback Davis Mills in place of the injured Tyrod Taylor to their inability to run the ball to limited weapons in the passing game outside of receiver Brandin Cooks.

With Miller gone, the expectation is that Danny Amendola, returning soon from a hamstring injury, will be the primary slot receiver. The Texans will also sign receiver Davion Davis off the Cleveland Browns' practice squad, Wilson reported, and undrafted rookie wide receiver Damon Hazelton to the their own practice squad.
