(670 The Score) The championship-contending White Sox and retooling Cubs found themselves a match for each other on the trade market Thursday.

The White Sox have acquired Cubs reliever Ryan Tepera, the teams announced. In return, the White Sox traded Class-A left-hander Bailey Horn to the Cubs.

Tepera, 33, has a 2.91 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 43 appearances this season. He projects to fill a high-leverage role for a White Sox team in full control of the AL Central and with World Series expectations in October.

“Ryan has been an extremely reliable bullpen arm this season and throughout his career,” White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement. “We are very pleased to add him to our talented and versatile group of relievers. Across his career with the Blue Jays and Cubs, Ryan has succeeded in a variety of situations and has the ability to get both lefties and righties out at very high rates.”

Tepera has a career 3.54 ERA across seven MLB seasons. He's set to be a free agent at season’s end.

Horn, 23, has a 5.63 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 38 1/3 innings across 14 appearances, including 10 starts, across two minor league levels this season. The White Sox selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB amateur draft. Horn was the No. 23 prospect in the White Sox's system, according to MLB Pipeline.

Earlier Thursday, the White Sox acquired second baseman Cesar Hernandez from the Indians in exchange for a minor league pitcher.
