(670 The Score) Amid continued struggles, the Cubs are making a move to look for a spark.

Chicago will call up infielder Robel Garcia from Triple-A Iowa and option reliever Dillon Maples back to Iowa, president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said on the McNeil & Parkins Show on Wednesday afternoon.

Garcia, 26, is hitting .281 with 15 homers, 32 RBIs and a .947 OPS in 50 games at Triple-A this season.

"He's had a hell of a Triple-A season swinging the bat really well," Epstein said.

"There's a chance he can help us. It's a product of us looking a little more aggressively."

Earlier in the interview, Epstein admitted the Cubs have had their "thinnest, worst" depth since they started their competitive phase in 2015. So the promotion of Garcia is a move to help in that regard.

While the Cubs have a hole at second base and Garcia can play there, they've also been using him in the outfield at Triple-A lately as well, Epstein said. So he could be used in any number of ways.
