(670 The Score) The White Sox have activated outfielder Nomar Mazara from the injured list, they announced Monday afternoon.

In corresponding moves, Chicago also optioned catcher Yermin Mercedes to its alternate group in Schaumburg and transferred righty reliever Jimmy Lambert to the 45-day injured list. Lambert is suffering from a right forearm strain.

The White Sox hadn't given an official reason for why Mazara had been sidelined, other than manager Rick Renteria saying he was "under the weather." Chicago acquired the 25-year-old Mazara from Texas in December. Mazara hit .268 with 19 homers, 66 RBIs and a .768 OPS in 116 games in 2019.

Mazara is expected to be the White Sox's starting right fielder now that he's healthy. Nicky Delmonico and Adam Engel had been the primary fill-ins with Mazara out.

The White Sox play at the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday evening.
