(670 The Score) The White Sox have placed outfielder Nomar Mazara on the 10-day injured list, they announced Wednesday afternoon.

Mazara has been "under the weather," manager Rick Renteria said previously without revealing further details. Mazara is set to be the team's starting right fielder when healthy. On Tuesday, Renteria left open the possibility that Mazara could be ready for the opener Friday, but that appears to be off the table now.

Chicago acquired the 25-year-old Mazara from Texas in December. Mazara hit .268 with 19 homers, 66 RBIs and a .768 OPS in 116 games in 2019.

As long as Mazara is out, outfielder Adam Engel and utilityman Leury Garcia are likely to see more playing time. Garcia could also be the team's starting second baseman, depending on the White Sox's decision on the next step for prized prospect Nick Madrigal.
