Jay Ajayi was one of the key pieces during the Eagles' legendary Super Bowl run. He became a Pro Bowler in his second NFL season, rushing for 1,272 yards with the Dolphins and was soon traded to Philadelphia at the midway point of the 2017 season.

Ajayi lasted only one more year in Philly after tearing his ACL in Week 5 of the 2018 season against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite that, the former NFL running back finds himself $5 million richer this Tuesday after finally receiving payment on his loss-of-value insurance policy.

In a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, Ajayi's business partner told Rapaport that Ajayi and his insurance company settled after a yearlong dispute which made it hard for the former Eagle to receive the policy he had paid on during the course of his career.

Ajayi's issue is something many players have to face who take out insurance policies that cover them for career-ending injuries. A lot of those cases stem from a player attempting a comeback after a serious injury, causing even more trouble once the player decides to call it quits and collect on the policy. This was the case for Ajayi, who signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in 2019 after tearing his ACL, being released from the squad after only three games.

After a Pro Bowl season in Miami, Ajayi's NFL career in total lasted only 45 games. He rushed for 2,546 yards and 13 touchdowns during his five seasons in the league.

With Ajayi cashing out on his $5 million insurance policy, he will stand to make more from that alone than he's made during his NFL career, which totals to $3.9 million.
