CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kevin Love will attend Team USA training camp on August 5-9 in Las Vegas. He's one of 20 players that will be in attendance.
Love, 30, was a member of the Fiba World Championship team in 2010 and won a gold medal with Team USA in 2012. He averaged 11.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in eight games during the 2012 run to help the Americans capture the gold.
Love was limited for Cleveland last season after having toe surgery. He played in 22 games last year for the Cavaliers, averaging 17 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
The camp will be used to determine who will be on the 2019 Fiba World Cup team. The official roster will be announced on August 17.
“Like past national team training camps, this group too possesses outstanding individual talents, while also boasting of excellent versatility and athleticism," said managing director Jerry Colangelo. "We’ve been watching a lot of players during the NBA season and the six players who we’ve added to the National Team roster we feel are deserving of being part of our national team program.”
The 32-team 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup competition will be held August 31-September 15 in China. Eight cities will host World Cup games - Beijing, Foshan, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Nanjing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The United States is the two-time defending World Cup champion and they're FIBA’s No. 1 world ranked team. They're in Group E with the Czech Republic, Japan and Turkey. Team USA will play its first-round games in Shanghai. They will play Czech Republic on Sept. 1, Turkey on Sept. 3 and Japan on Sept. 5.
