Bauer was talking with teammates Mike Clevinger and Shane Bieber at his locker as the media entered the clubhouse on Tuesday night. His face was red and clearly something was going on, as Clevinger sat with Bauer for a long stretch, before hugging him.
The Indians' young trio is close, which is the harsh reality of the trade deadline. Bauer declined to talked to the media. He was clearly going through all of the emotions that come with a trade.
“Over the last several weeks, we explored the trade market in an effort to enhance our competitive position, both by supplementing our Major League roster and infusing young talent into the organization,” said Cleveland Indians President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti. “We appreciate Trevor’s contributions to the organization in his time with us and while it’s never easy to part with a player of his caliber, we feel we’ve traded from an area of depth to help bolster our Major League club for this year and the foreseeable future.
The Indians will reportedly receive outfielders Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes, third baseman Victor Nova and left-hander Logan Allen.
Cincinnati is sending prospect Taylor Trammell to San Diego.
"In Franmil Reyes and Yasiel Puig, we’ve acquired a pair of right-handed hitting power bats we expect to impact our lineup immediately," Antonetti said. "We’re also excited to add Logan Allen, a rising left-handed starting pitcher prospect who made his MLB debut this year, in addition to two more young prospects, Scott Moss and Victor Nova, that we’re eager to welcome to our organization.”
Reyes has a .255 batting average, 27 home runs and 46 RBI. Puig has a .252 average, 22 home runs and 61 RBI this season.
The Indians moved Carlos Carrasco and Dan Otero to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster. Puig will wear No. 66 and Reyes will wear No. 32.
