Major League Baseball’s new uniforms have been taking a figurative beating from players and fans since Spring Training.
Now, they’re taking a literal beating.
Tigers left fielder Riley Greene scored on a base hit to in the top of the 9th inning to make the game against the Pirates 3-2. He ripped a giant hole in the side of his pants sliding into home. (The Tigers would go on to win 5-3).
The slide led to the outer stitching being completely separated.
It’s the latest wardrobe malfunction from the MLB’s new jerseys by Fanatics and Nike.
There have been complaints on how the player’s last names look on the back of jerseys, along with some claiming you can see through certain uniforms.
Gray uniforms have also been criticized with sweat stains being very obvious.
Players have also complained about the way the pants fit.
You can say one thing for sure, Riley Greene’s pants are certainly breathable.
To their credit, Nike told The Athletic they are working on solutions.
