PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - A night after becoming the first Pirates player to hit four doubles in a game since Paul Waner did it back in 1932, Adam Frazier just continued where he left off in Game 1 at PNC Park in Game 2 of this 4 game series against the Cubs on Tuesday.
Frazier singled to leadoff the game and came around to score on a Josh Bell sacrifice fly to right field to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead after the 1st inning. In the 3rd inning, Frazier doubled with one out and came around to score on a Starling Marte double later in the inning.
The storms Tuesday night rolled in after the 3rd inning and after the 2 hour and 5 minute rain delay, Francisco Liriano pitched a scoreless Top of the 4th. After Kevin Newman walked, Steven Brault pinch hit for Liriano and singled to right, Frazier came to the plate and put one over the Clemente Wall for a 3-run home run to give the Pirates the 5-0 lead.
Pirates pitchers combined to stikeout 13 Cubs batter's Tuesday night at PNC Park and even when Chicago seemed to be getting things going in the 8th and 9th, the bullpen was able to limit the damage.
