(610 Sports) – The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that they had released linebacker Anthony Hitchens.
During his four seasons in Kansas City with the Chiefs, Hitchens tallied 381 tackles, 2 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, one interception, and two forced fumbles. Hitchens played in 11 postseason games with the Chiefs that included four AFC Championship Games and two Super Bowls.

With the emergence of Nick Bolton and Willie Gay Jr., the Chiefs have their foundational linebackers in place, making Hitchens expendable. By cutting the 8-year NFL veteran, the Chiefs will save roughly $8.4 million dollars against the cap.
Hitchens was drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys where he spent four seasons, before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as a free-agent in 2018. Hitchens played his college football at the University of Iowa.
