The Cleveland Indians used their first-round pick in the MLB Draft on Sunday night on college pitcher Gavin Williams. The Tribe used the 23rd overall selection to take Williams, who pitched for East Carolina. In his senior season, Williams posted a record of 10-and-1 with a 1.88 ERA with 130 strikeouts and only 21 walks.

Williams was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays out of high school in the 30th round back in 2017, but the two sides could not come to terms on a deal.  The MLB Draft will continue today with rounds 2 through 10.  The draft will come to a close on Tuesday with rounds 11 through 20.
