Jonny Gomes didn’t play in any of the games during the Kansas City Royals’ playoff run to the 2015 World Series championship, but he sure partied like he did. Gomes gave an epic speech after the parade in front of over one million Royals faithful.

Gomes had done some celebrating up to that point in his career, including a 2013 World Series with the Red Sox, and he brought that experience to the Royals.

Gomes joined the new Audacy Original Podcast “Baseball Isn’t Boring” and reminisced about those celebrations, including that epic speech that he may not exactly remember.

“I was so in the bag during that speech. I don’t know how that rolled off my tongue, but it did,” Gomes said (23:15 in player above). “I woke up the next day with legit probably like 500 text messages. And everyone wanted to send me the link as if I wasn’t f—ing there…

“I remember clicking on the link and just going like, ‘Oh, no. Oh, no.’ And I made it through, it was like two and a half minutes, and I was like, ‘Oh, thank God.’ I thought for sure I did something not-PR.”

Here is Gomes’ epic speech in case you also forgot, or in case you just want to watch it again.

There were a few expletives dropped, but nothing you wouldn’t expect out of a newly-crowned World Series champion.

“Let’s just say when I woke up there was a little bit of fog,” Gomes said.

“Oh, so thank God for the links then,” Coop joked.

“I could’ve just used one, or I could’ve looked it up, but yeah, 500 YouTube links,” Gomes said.

The 2015 season was Gomes’ last in Kansas City and his last in MLB overall. He went out on the highest of highs.
