According to a couple of sources, Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward will miss “multiple weeks” after suffering a groin injury against the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport say Heyward will likely be placed on injured reserve.
They add that all of the possible options are being looked at including surgery.
Heyward will be on IR for a minimum of four weeks.
With Heyward out, DeMarvin Leal would be next on the depth chart, but he suffered an elbow injury against the 49ers.
Heyward left the game in the first half. He tried to return but was then ruled out the rest of the game.
The 49ers run game chomped at the bit with Heyward out. San Francisco had 188 total yards on the ground. The Steelers have 41 yards.
