49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot Saturday afternoon in San Francisco, during an attempted robbery in Union Square, according to multiple reports.
Reported first by KGO's Dion Lim, Gia Vang of NBC Bay Area reported that Pearsall is "in stable condition" and that, "the suspect is in custody."
It's horrifying news out of San Francisco. The 31st overall pick had been back in practice the last week after being sidelined with a shoulder injury. He expressed confidence Thursday that he would be ready for the season opener in Week 1 against the Jets.
Sal Castaneda of KTVU has reported that the incident occurred around 3:38 p.m., which when the San Francisco Fire Department was called to the scene. They attend to one person in critical condition and another, discernibly Pearsall, in stable condition, and transported them to the hospital.
Deebo Samuel took to Twitter/X to say Pearsall's "good."
UPDATE: According to the San Francisco Police Department, Pearsall was on the way to a signing event on Geary and Market Street when the suspect attempted to rob him for a Rolex watch. Both Pearsall and the suspect were shot and are "stable" at SF General.
