VIEW FROM PITTSBURGH: Rodgers to Steelers makes no sense, 'zero %' chance it happens

The MVP likely trying to get a better deal with Packers.

Over the weekend it was reported that the Steelers are among a few team that two-time reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is interested in.

Other teams mentioned include the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and his current team, the Green Bay Packers.

After a few days to digest the report, it seems highly unlikely that Rodgers would come to Pittsburgh and the cost for the Steelers would be too much.

CBS Sports reports the deal from the Steelers would cost them their first-round draft pick this year at #20, their first-round pick next year and a third-round pick and a 2024 conditional first-round pick.

The 38-year-old quarterback’s cap hit is over $46.6 million in 2022.

Giving up draft picks and adding a huge cap hit does not help improve a struggling offensive line and defensive line.

Another possible scenario is Rodgers is just playing the Packers looking to get a contract re-structure, one that ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says could “alter” the quarterback market in the NFL.

Also, the Broncos have a higher draft pick this season compared to the Steelers, picking ninth, so Denver would be able to make a sweeter deal.

Colin Dunlap, morning show host at 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh said it best, “There is zero percent chance Aaron Rodgers is traded to the Steelers.”
